QPlay Wireless Music Casting

On this page

Welcome to QPlay! With QPlay, you can wirelessly cast the vast music library and curated playlists from the QQ Music app on your phone to this player with a single tap, enjoying a more powerful and higher-fidelity audio experience.

Note: QPlay has passed Tencent Music's official certification and provides stable casting of the QQ Music catalog and playlists.

What is QPlay?

QPlay is a high-quality wireless audio transmission protocol introduced by Tencent Music. Beyond basic playback control, it transmits metadata such as lyrics and cover art, and supports casting the current playlist.

Before You Start

Make sure the following two conditions are met before casting:

  1. Same local network: connect the phone (with QQ Music installed) and player to the same LAN. They may use different Wi-Fi bands when the router permits local device discovery and multicast traffic.
  2. Enable the streaming service:
    • On the player's home screen, tap the "Music Streaming" button (icon resembles a broadcast tower).
    • In the pop-up dialog, confirm that the "QPlay" option is enabled. (The DLNA option turning on simultaneously is normal, as QPlay is built on the DLNA protocol.)

Steps

Step 1: On your phone

  1. Open the QQ Music app on your phone.
  2. Pick and play a song you like.
  3. On the song playback screen, tap the top-right icon, then choose the "Device Casting" icon (a rectangle with a triangle) from the pop-up page.

Step 2: Select the device

  1. In the pop-up device list, find and tap this player's name (e.g., kbeplayer or your custom device name).
  2. After a moment, playback on the phone will stop and the sound will come from this player.

Step 3: Enjoy the music

  1. Interface sync: The player's top-right corner will automatically show the "QPlay" icon and text, indicating QPlay casting mode is active.
  2. Content sync: The player will display the current song's cover, title, and artist.
  3. Interactive control: control playback progress and switch tracks from the phone, player remote, or touchscreen. Playlist item selection remains phone-only.
  4. Playlist: The playlist is viewable on the device, but direct tapping to switch tracks is not supported; control must be done from the phone.

FAQ

  • Q: Why can't I find the player in the casting list?
    • A: Confirm that the phone and player are on the same LAN and that the router allows local device discovery and multicast traffic. Disable AP Isolation if it is enabled.
  • Q: Does QPlay support lossless quality?
    • A: The QPlay protocol supports audio playback at 48kHz sampling.
  • Q: Can I answer a call during casting?
    • A: Yes. QPlay uses data-stream casting, so answering a call will not interrupt the music currently playing (unlike traditional Bluetooth connections).
  • Q: How do I stop casting?
    • A: In the QQ Music app's casting device list, select "Play on this device", or switch back to "Local mode" in the player's streaming settings.
