KAIBOER’s July 2025 announcement introduced the forthcoming UHD-K9 8K hard-drive media player. The preview highlighted officially certified dual-layer Dolby Vision, 12-bit color processing, BT.2020 color support and frame-by-frame dynamic metadata optimization.

It also described the Dolby VS12 video engine for HDR10+ and HLG material, together with Dolby Atmos and DTS audio support. Turning hardware specifications into playback

The UHD-K9 8K uses the Amlogic S928X-K processor, manufactured on a 12 nm process. Its five-core CPU combines one Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55 cores with a Mali-G57 GPU.

The announced memory configuration is 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64 GB eMMC storage. The platform was described as supporting 8K playback at 60 fps, including high-bit-rate material up to 200 Mbps. HDMI 2.1 provides output up to 7680 × 4320 at 60 Hz.

Dolby Vision and immersive audio

The preview emphasized dual-layer Dolby Vision, wide color support and the VS12 engine. Dynamic metadata processing is intended to preserve tonal transitions, highlights and shadow detail, from changing sunset colors to the glow of candlelight.

Audio features include Dolby Atmos and DTS:X bitstream output and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio passthrough, allowing a compatible receiver or processor to reproduce the soundtrack’s spatial information.

Construction and storage

The UHD-K9 uses a standard 430 mm-wide chassis with a metal frame and brushed aluminum front panel. Its cooling design is intended to support extended playback sessions.

Two concealed, quick-release hard-drive bays provide storage flexibility. The announcement specified support for drives up to 24 TB in each bay, giving users room for large video libraries.

A movie library and a music library

An intelligent poster wall organizes local video files and matches information about the titles. A separate Hi-Fi library can organize authorized music files and match album information online, bringing cinema and music collections into the same device.

Blu-ray navigation menus are also part of the announced software experience, giving users of compatible disc-image content an interface closer to a dedicated disc player.

Local, cloud and network sources

The original article discussed the development of the wider 8K ecosystem, from production to distribution and display. The UHD-K9 was positioned as a player for both existing libraries and future higher-resolution content.

The preview described playback from supported streaming platforms, CloudDrive2-mounted services such as Alibaba Cloud Drive, Baidu Netdisk and 115, and NAS storage. Access to online content depends on the service, the available material and the user’s network connection.

Connecting today’s library with future formats

Whether material is stored on a local hard drive, a NAS or a supported cloud service, the UHD-K9’s approach is to provide multiple routes to a large home library. This July 2025 preview presented the forthcoming player as a bridge between current home cinema use and the gradual adoption of 8K.
