KAIBOER Introduces the DAC-K9 and AMP-K9 Flagship Hi-Fi Pair
KAIBOER’s flagship DAC-K9 was announced for availability through its Chinese flagship stores on September 2, 2025, with the AMP-K9 stereo amplifier following during the same launch week. The original release presents the two components as a matching pair within KAIBOER’s Hi-Fi Seed Plan, while also emphasizing their use as separate components in an existing system.
DAC-K9: a dual-chip decoding architecture
The DAC-K9 uses two ESS Sabre ES9039PRO DAC chips, with separate decoding for the left and right channels. The original specification lists distortion of −125 dB, a signal-to-noise ratio of 140 dB and dynamic range of 140 dB, describing the company’s goals for its flagship decoding design.
Four OPA1612 operational amplifiers form the analog-stage arrangement. The USB audio platform is the third-generation, 16-core XMOS XU316, with the source listing support for DSD512 and PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz through the appropriate digital inputs.
Connections for different source systems
The source lists USB-B DAC input, HDMI-shaped I²S input, AES, optical and coaxial inputs. USB-B and the supported I²S route are specified for DSD512 and PCM up to 768 kHz; AES, optical and coaxial are listed up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
The Bluetooth section uses a Qualcomm QCC5125 module with codecs including LDAC and aptX HD. AirPlay and DLNA provide additional streaming routes. The original announcement also lists MQA decoding on the USB route. Actual format support depends on the selected input and connected source.
For analog output, the DAC-K9 offers both balanced XLR and stereo RCA connections. These allow it to work with the AMP-K9 or another compatible amplifier.
Display and power design
A 4.3-inch color display provides menu interaction and several VU-meter styles, bringing visual feedback to the listening session. The aluminum chassis uses a fine sandblasted finish and contributes to the unit’s heat-management and shielding design.
The original feature highlights dual toroidal transformers and KAIBOER’s SilenceWave power design. It lists AC 110–120 V and AC 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz input configurations; the correct mains arrangement must be checked on the individual unit before connection.
AMP-K9: dedicated stereo amplification
The AMP-K9 concentrates on amplification rather than adding source or decoding functions. Its aluminum housing, large toroidal transformer and 20,000 µF capacitor bank form the basis of the power-stage design described in the release.
The amplifier provides a balanced XLR input pair and a stereo RCA input pair, with gold-plated copper speaker terminals. The source specifies 1.4 V input sensitivity for full power, plus overheating and short-circuit protection and a low-power operating mode.
The stated output is 170 W per channel into 4 ohms or 100 W per channel into 8 ohms, with a 300 W mono bridged mode. Supported load and operating-mode requirements should be checked before configuring the amplifier.
Rear-panel bass and treble compensation provides three positions with adjustments of up to ±3 dB. The original specification lists a 113 dB signal-to-noise ratio, THD+N of 0.01% and frequency response from 5 Hz to 50 kHz. Silver-plated OCC conductors are used in the internal wiring described by the feature.
A matching pair, or a component upgrade
The release brings decoding and amplification together as a coherent system, with the option to use either component independently. For KAIBOER, the pair extends the Hi-Fi Seed Plan from digital sources into the amplification stage, offering a component-based route to a complete listening system.
