KAIBOER DA5 Brings Dual-DAC Hi-Fi to a Portable Format
KAIBOER’s DA5 portable DAC/headphone amplifier was officially introduced on June 25, 2025. The Chinese launch feature describes it as a compact way to bring the company’s desktop audio-development experience into a device that fits a pocket or small bag.
Dual DACs and two headphone outputs
The DA5 uses two Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips, with separate handling of the left and right channels. It provides a 4.4 mm balanced headphone output and a 3.5 mm stereo headphone output, giving listeners a choice of compatible headphone connections.
The original feature reports an A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range of at least 135 dB, and harmonic distortion of −115 dB or lower under the company’s stated test conditions. Its tuning is described as suitable for everyday genres as well as recordings where placement and layering matter.
High-resolution formats and mobile use
The source lists decoding support for DSD256 and PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz. It describes USB audio playback with compatible iPhone and iPad devices, while Android and HarmonyOS users can use an appropriate music app’s USB-exclusive mode where supported.
The launch feature also discusses high-resolution streaming material from services including Apple Music and major Chinese music platforms. The available quality depends on the service, subscription, app, device connection and selected playback mode.
The DA5 draws power through the connected device and does not require a separate charging routine. Its low-power control design includes automatic standby when music is not playing, intended to improve the connected-device experience.
Aluminum construction in three finishes
The housing is made using CNC-machined aluminum with an anodized, finely textured finish. Small side fins help with grip and heat dissipation during use.
The launch feature highlights silver-white as the principal finish, alongside gunmetal and pale-purple versions. The form combines the feel of a dedicated audio component with a compact, understated appearance.
Physical controls and WALK PLAY
Four metal buttons provide playback and pause, track selection, volume adjustment and gain-mode control through the available button functions. The design lets listeners perform basic operations without repeatedly waking the phone screen.
For additional adjustment, the source introduces the WALK PLAY companion app, with an eight-band equalizer and gain settings. Supported functions depend on the app and connected system.
The original China-market launch included a limited pure-silver audio-data cable gift. That campaign belongs to the archived launch announcement and does not state a current gift or offer for the English store.
The DA5’s central idea is portable integration: a dual-DAC audio stage, two headphone-output options and direct controls brought into a compact USB-powered device for everyday listening.
